As I welcome the New Year, I am truly grateful to God for giving me life, blessing me with the privilege of witnessing the coming of a new year. The year 2014 was filled with so much of highs and lows and I witnessed God’s hand through it all. I will always rest in His promise in the Bible:
Lamentations 3:22-25 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning, great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, “the Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.” The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him.
We hosted lunch today for 2 families (one was visiting from another State) who didn’t know each other and later found out that they had a lot of friends in common. Although my husband and I only had a few hours of sleep from the festivities of the New Year’s Eve, we had a wonderful time preparing food and enjoying each others company. Our menu was inspired by the flavors of Asia and included: miso soup, Asian salad, beef bulgogi, galbi. vegetable egg rolls and homemade mango cake. It was more than enough for the 8 of us. Good food. Good company.
When all our guests have gone home and all the dishes were done and put away, I sat with my piece of cake and a cup of coffee. And then once again, I thanked God for His goodness and His faithfulness.
God is good… all the time. All the time… God is good!
